MasterCard Shuffles Senior Executives to Take On an ‘Increasingly Digital World’
MasterCard has appointed Ed McLaughlin as CIO, reporting to Rob Reeg, president of the Operations and Technology business unit. McLaughlin joined the company in 2005 and for the past five years has led the emerging payments division, where he oversaw digital platforms like the MasterPass digital wallet.
The appointment is part of series of executive appointments that distribute responsibilities typically associated with the roles of CIOs, CTOs, and CDOs, in an attempt to “drive tighter integration across the organization allowing us to enhance our product offering and brand experiences in an increasingly digital world,” says Gary Flood, President, Global Products and Solutions at MasterCard. Garry Lyons, Chief Innovation Officer, will now lead the Digital Payments and MasterCard Labs organizations and will be responsible for consolidating the development and delivery of emerging digital payments solutions. In May, MasterCard appointed Betty DeVita as the Chief Commercial Officer of MasterCard Labs. DeVita is responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships focused on commercializing existing and future MasterCard Labs assets.
