New Appointments and Career Moves, December 2020

CIOs on Board

CIOs are getting a seat on the corporate boards. Levi Strauss & Co, Citizen Financial Group, Rhode Island headquartered financial institution, and building products manufacturer AZEK Company have appointed tech leaders to their board this month.

Citizens Financial Group has named Lee Alexander, executive vice president and CIO for The Clearing House, operator of core payments system infrastructure in the US, to its board of directors. He will now serve on the board’s Audit Committee. “Lee brings tremendous insights into new technologies, cybersecurity, data analytics and payments gleaned from his experience at The Clearing House and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Van Saun. 

Levi Strauss & Co. has appointed Elliott Rodgers, CIO of Ulta Beauty as a member of its board. Stephen C. Neal, chair of the board of Levi Strauss & Co. said in a press release, “Elliott has deep knowledge of ecommerce, digital transformations and how to drive operational excellence in today’s omnichannel supply chain. His expertise in all of these areas will be invaluable as we focus on direct-to-consumer and continue to look for innovative ways to get our products to our consumers when, where and how they want them.”

The AZEK Company Inc. has appointed Fumbi Chima, Executive Vice President and CIO at BECU, to its board of directors. Calling Chima “an innovative leader with a track record of strong digital transformation in high-growth environments”, AZEK’s announcement says that he brings decades of experience leading companies in the retail and financial sectors, including Walmart, Burberry, FOX Networks, American Express and most recently Adidas. Chima also serves on the boards of Africa Prudential Plc and the Women at Risk International Foundation. 

In other recent appointments and career moves:

Food Service distribution company Sysco Corporation has appointed Tom Peck as executive vice president and chief information and digital officer. He will lead Sysco’s strategic efforts to accelerate its business transformation through customer-facing technology solutions and will lead the company efforts to modernize its technology infrastructure. He most recently served as chief information and digital officer of Ingram Micro Inc., a $50 billion company providing technology distribution, supply chain services and cloud solutions. Before that, Peck worked as senior vice president and global CIO at AECOM, a $20 billion global provider of professional technical and management support services.

New York-based athletic retailer Foot Locker has appointed Himanshu Parikh as senior vice president and CIO. He will oversee the execution of Foot Locker's strategic technology agenda and will have operational responsibility for the company's technology and infrastructure. He will work closely with the senior executive team to streamline processes as well as evaluate and implement new and integrated systems and tools across the organization critical to the Company's omni-channel initiatives. Most recently, he worked as CTO at The Michaels Companies, Inc. where he drove technology and customer-centric transformation. Prior to joining Michaels, Parikh held several executive roles with Ross Stores, leading teams that developed modern web and mobile applications, IT investment plans, roadmaps, technology standards, and governance of new technology.

Industrial gases company Air Products has appointed Brian Galovich as senior vice president and CIO. Reporting to Air Products’ Chairman, President and CEO Selfi Ghasemi ,Galovich has responsibility for the strategic oversight of technology-driven solutions and the integration of technologies, people, information, and processes. Most recently, he worked as the vice president, digital technology and CIO for Collins Aerospace. Prior to that, Galovich was the CIO for both Pratt & Whitney and Global Business Systems at United Technologies Corporation.

Oil and gas company Hunt Consolidated has appointed Stephen de Campos as CIO. He takes on this role after he and another IT leader spent time as interim-CIOs starting in July this year, following the departure of former chief digital and information officer, Diane Schwarz, who departed Hunt Consolidated to take on the CIO role at Johnson Controls. Before joining Hunt, Campos was director, IT Infrastructure at Dean Foods, responsible for leading Strategy, Architecture, Operations, and Support for the IT Infrastructure Group.

Pennsylvania State University has appointed Jennifer Sparrow as deputy CIO.

Verizon Media has appointed Joy Brown as CDO.

Baxter has appointed Talvis Love as senior vice president and CIO.

City College of Chicago has appointed Josue Cuevas as CIO.

Whirlpool Corporation has appointed Danielle Brown as senior vice president and CIO.

Union Pacific has appointed Rahul Jalali as CIO.

Scholastic has appointed John Lewis as CTO, North America.

Carlson Wagonlit Travel has appointed Carrie McAuley as vice president and CIO.
