New Appointments and Career Moves, August 2016

Paula Tolliver New Intel CIO, Succeeds Kim Stevenson Who Becomes COO of Client and IoT Business Unit

Intel appointed Paula Tolliver as corporate vice president and chief information officer (CIO), reporting to Intel chief financial officer Stacy Smith. Tolliver also joined the company’s management committee. Previously, she served as corporate vice president of business services and CIO at Dow Chemical. Tolliver replaced Kim Stevenson who after five successful years as Intel’s CIO was promoted to chief operating officer for the Client and Internet of Things Businesses and Systems Architecture (CISA) Group reporting to Dr. Venkata “Murthy” Renduchintala. She remains on Intel’s management committee.

“With the maturing of cloud computing capabilities and more as-a-service offerings, the change we’ll see in the next three years is unprecedented,” Tolliver told CIO Journal.

Straight Talk Featured Blogger Peter High wrote earlier this year: “One of the most ambitious projects that [Kim Stevenson’s] team has led has been a big data analytics platform that has changed the way in which the company markets and sells its products.” Stevenson told High that the “Intel IT team utilized big data analytics to provide valuable customer insights, delivering nearly $1B in incremental revenue and productivity gains for Intel in 2 years.”

Less than a fifth of chief information officers at top U.S. companies are women, according to a recent report by executive-search firm Korn/Ferry International. Across all industry sectors, women accounted for just 19% of CIOs at the top 1,000 firms by revenue, the report said.
