P&G Taps former Mars exec as CIO
Consumer packaged goods company Procter and Gamble has named Vittorio Cretella as CIO. Reporting to Jon Moeller, P&G’s chief operating officer, chief financial officer and vice chairman, he will be responsible for every aspect of P&G’s ongoing IT and Digital transformation. Cretella succeeds Javier Polit, who was P&G’s global CIO since 2017 and has now joined cloud platform company Quick Board’s board of directors.
Cretella worked with Virginia-based consumer goods manufacturer Mars Inc for 26 years, rising to the position of global CIO and global CTO. He led numerous waves of digital transformation throughout a diverse and global business, championing the concept of data as an essential asset for future growth, while leading the IT dimension of several large-scale mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring initiatives.
Since 2018, Vittorio has run his own consulting firm VC Advisory, based in New Jersey. He has also served as advisor to Fortune 500 global companies on digital transformation roadmaps and evolution of IT capabilities. He is a member of the Board of Directors at NPower, a nonprofit that seeks to launch digital career for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities and serves on the Growth Advisory Board of Tricentis, an Austrian software testing company.

Financial services company State Street has appointed Brian Franz as its chief information officer. He will report to Chief Operating Officer, Lou Maiuri and become a member of State Street’s Management Committee, its senior-most strategy and policymaking group. Franz comes to State Street from Diageo PLC, a British multinational alcoholic beverages company, where he most recently worked as chief productivity officer leading information technology, enterprise operations and business service functions across the company. Prior to that, he was CIO at PepsiCo International and worked at AT&T and GE.
Pharmaceuticals company McKesson has appointed Nancy Flores its new executive vice president, CIO and CTO. She replaces Kathy McElligott who announced her retirement earlier this year. Before this, Flores worked as CIO for Johnson Controls, where she was responsible for Global Business Services, which includes back office shared services, information technology, cybersecurity and analytics.
Cruise operator Carnival Corp has appointed former global CIO and SVP at Hyatt Hotels Marshall Lancaster CIO of the professional services division responsible for the technology portfolio at Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, P&O Cruises Australia and Carnival Australia. At Hyatt, Lancaster oversaw the transformation of the company's technology infrastructure. In his new role, he will be tasked with leveraging his industry-specific expertise to keep the IT backbone of every ship up and running.
Nutrition and weight management company Herbalife Nutrition has appointed Rhonda Vetere as executive vice president and CIO, with global responsibility including information technology strategy and implementation. Previously, Vetere was chief information officer at Santander Bank, where she helped transform their mobile, retail and online banking applications and infrastructure. Before that, she spent five years as the chief technology officer for Estee Lauder Companies, leading global infrastructure, applications, service delivery, operations, security, architecture and IT strategy.
